Thirsty Skin – Quench The Thirst
Today we will continue with the Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon – ways to maintain your anti-aging routine without plastic surgery. These are things that you can do at home while we are all practicing social distancing.
In my practice, before I use any type of non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment, I hydrate the skin with AquaFacial. Some of you may have had Hydrafacial treatments or dermal infusion. Aquafacial plumps up the skin by providing hydration to the skin. All skin care products and treatments work better when the skin’s thirst for hydration is quenched. Hydration makes the skin glow. Hydrated skin also has less fine lines and wrinkles compared to dry skin.
Since right now, patients can’t come in for Aquafacial treatments, the best way to hydrate your skin is to drink water. It is easy to forget drinking water while we are at home. But keep a schedule, keep a water bottle at your home work station and make sure you drink water. The more water you drink, the better hydrated your skin will be. We all know the saying to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but it is very hard to do. Coffee, juices, tea don’t contribute to the 8 glasses of water a day.
To get motivated, try this experiment and give us your feedback. Take a before picture and then take weekly pictures while drinking 8 glasses of water a day and track the difference in your skin.
Of course, if you have any medical problems, you should check with your doctor first to see if it is safe for you to drink 8 glasses of water a day.
